Create Your Own Custom Dolls Are Officially Here!

Yesterday we received an awesome email saying that American Girl's Create Your Own custom doll line is officially here! We are both very excited and had to check out their website to see all of the options to share with you. We are very interested to see how the actual options compare to what we saw in the teaser video we added to our last post.

From what we can see, there are lots and lots of possibilities to what you can create, and we are very excited.

The firs things we are going to start with showing you is the options for skin tones. There are three different options, offering light, medium, and dark skin for your custom dolls.

There are also a few options for the face shape of the dolls. The five different options are not titled with the face mold names as many know them, but by letters A through E. We did not include individual pictures of each of the face shapes, because this post is going to be long enough already, but if you want to see them you can check out American Girl's website.

One thing that we were excited to see that is brand new from American Girl is to have the eyes two different colors. This has never been an option before, and we found this to be very cool. You can select which color you wan tfor each eye, or pick to have both the same.

As for the eye color options, there are a lot! There are 7 different eye color choices for your custom doll: green, hazel, light blue, blue, light brown, brown, and grey.

After you choose the face shape and eye color, you are able to choose if you want your doll to have freckles, braces, or a hearing aid. These options are yes or no type circles to fill in, so you can just leave it blank of you don't want it.

The next things that you can pick is the hair color for your doll. These options are about the same color options as Truly Me dolls, with the options being light blond, blond, light red, red, brown, dark brown, and black. It would have been interesting to see some colored hair as possibilities, are even just highlights.

After you choose a hair color, you can pick the haircut of you doll. There are tons of options! Because there are so many, we did not include pictures of all the different options, but you can see them all listed in the one below.

After you are done with the color and hair cut, you can choose a hairstyle for your doll to come in. You can choose from a barrette, double ponytail, headband, or low pigtails. I like that there is also an option to hot have a hairstyle, in case you just wanted to have her hair down.

Now we get to move on to our favorite part, and the part that we were most anticipating: the outfits! We did get to see pictures of these in the trailer video from American Girl, but now we get an in depth view of each of them. They also have names for each of the outfits now! I love the shoes in the Let's Create and Let's Daydream outfits, but I would have to say my favorites are Let's Play and Let's Explore, which surprises me because they were my least favorites in the video. (Also, the glasses on the doll in all the pictures do not come with any of the outfits, that is a later option, but we forgot to take them off for the pictures... oops!)

After you choose an outfit, you can also pick an accessory set. They have the same names as the outfits, but you don;t have to pick the same ones. You are able to mix and match, for example you could pick the Let's explore outfit and the Let's Play accessories.

You can also choose to have glasses for your doll. I was very excited to see if they would have unique options for the glasses exclusive to the Create Your Own line, like they do for the outfits, but they are the same as the ones available in stores. You glasses can pick from are the Brownie Ombre, Glitter, Raspberry, Striped, Tortoise, and Turquoise glasses.

After this step, you can also pick if you want you doll to have pierced ears, but this is just a yes or no choice with no options for earrings or earring packs. We are still interested to see if they come with an extra earring pack like your doll would get if you pay to pierce their ears in the store.

After you are done with all of the customizing of your doll, it allows you to name you doll, pick scenery, hobbies, and a pet pal. (Although it does not actually come with a pet.)

While we were going through the website, we noticed that a lot of the items and choices were already back ordered, so if you want these on your doll, you would have to wait longer to get her while American Girl gets more in stock. The choices that are currently out of stock are the barrette hairstyle, C and D face shapes, and hazel eyes.
