Custom Doll Line Coming Soon to Truly Me

American Girl's website has revealed that a new custom Truly Me line of dolls will be available soon. The multitude of possibilities has AG fans everywhere excited. We don't have an exact release date yet, but hope that this option will be available soon.

The custom doll that you create comes with not only the doll, but also one of 6 outfit choices, one of 6 accessory set choices, a create-your-own doll-sized t-shirt, and a 6- month subscription to American Girl magazine. I personally wish that the magazine subscription was optional, and the original $200 price would drop if you chose to bypass the subscription. Putting this aside, we think that the initially high-sounding $200 price is actually quite reasonable. The custom doll set comes with so much, and you probably wouldn't be able to buy that much with the doll for under $200 anyways.

Now that we've discussed the price, let's move on to the fun part: the possibilities! American Girl's website claims that there are over 1 million different possible combinations. I was actually surprised at the amount of things you are able to choose and customize when creating your doll.

You are able to choose hair color, hairstyle, eye color, freckles, face shape, and skin tone. You are also able to add a hearing aid, pierced ears and eyewear. This is the part interested us initially. Up until now, no Truly Me dolls come with earrings, hearing aids, or glasses. It has only been available if purchased separately. Would this be an additional cost, or would it be included with the doll? In the case of earrings, we are also curious to know that if it is included, is the extra earring set also included, as it would be if you paid extra for your doll to pierce their ears in a store? It is also very neat that you can pick a hairstyle for your doll to come in, as no Truly Me dolls come with a hairstyle currently. Doll owners must either do it themselves or pay to have it done in an American Girl store. This is a great option to help add some originality to each of these custom dolls. This leaves many questions to be asked, but I guess we will all find out when the custom doll line is released.

The part that we were both excited to see is the outfit and accessory possibilities. You are able to pick one of six different outfit or accessory set options to come with your doll. These are previewed in the picture below, as well as in the video on American Girl's website.

Just looking at this large picture is a bit overwhelming! The choices are seemingly endless, and it is kind of hard to tell what is part of the outfit and what is part of an accessory set. We have these separated pictures of the choices below to help with this!

All of these outfits are so cute! Unfortunately, we were unable to get a picture alone of the pink dress in the middle of the group photo above because it was not shown in full in the video. But the rest of these pictures help to give all doll-lovers some time to make our choices as to which outfit our dream dolls may come in!

All of the accessory sets shown are amazing! It's impossible to pick a favorite, but it is clear that all of the possibilities will coordinate with any of the outfit choices, which is exactly what we're sure American Girl was going for. Each of the sets are very fun and detailed. All of these sets include some great pieces we have never seen before by American Girl, such as the Fitbit-like bracelet in the top set, and the rainbow slushie in the third one down (with the blue sparkly bag). The make up case is also a great piece in the second set! These accessory sets leave many options for future custom doll owners to choose from.

We are both really excited to see all of the possibilities for these creative dolls once the line comes out.
